The Open Benchmark Database for Global Ad Costs
International Media Buying is an open, citable database of what advertising actually costs around the world. CPM and CPC ranges across 20 tier-1 markets and every major platform, plus offline rate cards for TV, out-of-home, radio and print. Every figure is sourced, dated, and free to cite, refreshed on a public quarterly cadence. We built it as a fast, content-heavy publication where the data structure and the citations are the product.

How we transformed obstacles into opportunities
Turn a large, messy dataset (20 markets, 12+ platforms, several metrics) into something browsable and citable, not a spreadsheet dump
Rank for high-intent long-tail cost queries (country, platform, metric) that competitors answer with vague, undated numbers
Make every figure traceable to a source and a verification date so the data is defensible
Scale to hundreds of country and platform pages without hand-building each one
Stay fast despite heavy data tables and a type-heavy editorial design
Designed a content architecture around markets, platforms, channels and metrics so every figure has a clear home and internal path
Built programmatic page templates that generate country-by-platform and platform-by-country pages from a single dataset
Baked sourced and dated data patterns (source link and verification date per row) into the templates
Structured the site for SEO from the ground up: clean URLs, market to platform internal linking, and schema-ready data
Kept the frontend lightweight so data-dense pages stay quick
Workflow
A systematic approach to delivering exceptional results
Mapped the dataset into markets, platforms, channels and metrics as the backbone for every page
Built templates that generate country and platform pages from the dataset, so coverage scales without hand-building each one
Clean URLs, internal linking, and sourced, dated data patterns aimed at high-intent cost queries
Optimized the type-heavy, data-dense frontend for speed ahead of the Q3 2026 dataset release
